CLEANING OUR OCEANS
UP TO 12.7 MILLION TONNES OF PLASTIC WASTE ENTERS THE OCEAN EVERY YEAR - damaging our oceans and causing significant harm to wildlife and delicate marine ecosystems.

THAT’S MORE THAN FIVE LARGE TRASH BAGS FOR EVERY FOOT OF COASTLINE IN THE WORLD.
The world is awash with plastic waste, especially on island shores. Plastic pollution in our oceans is the result of the 300 million tons of new plastic produced each year. We currently recover less than 10% of that plastic, leaving the rest to be burned, buried, or washed out to sea. While we recognize the main solutions to the problem are better corporate responsibility, waste management, policy, and public education, there is still simply too much plastic trash accumulating globally! 5 Gyre
We sail with Annette around European seas. And with smaller crafts, we paddle and sail around coastlines and visit small, inaccessible beaches where we collect rubbish. We record what we find and collaborate with researchers and other activists to help drive change in mankind’s impact on nature.
In the near future, we aim to recycle the plastic collected from the sea onboard Annette, although this needs more time and support. We are also preparing an educational programme for families on the basic skills of sailing and ecological impact of plastic pollution in oceans.
Sail with us to generate change in world oceans and in people’s minds!
